Harry S. Truman

America's 33rd President

(1884-1972)

During the time that Harry S. Truman was president, there were many events going on both at home and around the world. At home, the US had come out of the Great Depression not even a decade ago before they were thrown into World War II. Also African Americans were fighting for their equal rights although the Civil Rights Movement was not in full swing yet. The Korean War began during Truman's presidency as he changed his foreign rights policy. In short, during Truman's presidency many things were going on both around the world and at home.

While president, Truman had many successes as well as failures. He wore his presidential "hats" but not all of them fit as well as the others.
